Quality Assurance: The EN plus® Certification Scheme for Wood Pellets

FENIKS PELLETS 15KG PREMIUM

As an environmentally friendly and efficient fuel, wood pellets are becoming increasingly popular among domestic and industrial users. However, a transparent, independent certification scheme is needed to give consumers confidence in pellet quality and origin. In this context, EN plus® stands out as a world-leading scheme that guarantees quality and combats fraud throughout the supply chain.

Third-Party Certification: A Guarantee of Impartiality

EN plus® operates as a third-party certification scheme, meaning that certification and compliance are assessed by accredited organisations. The independence of this process is crucial, and all changes and updates are introduced entirely independently. The main aim is to ensure that pellet quality is the sole priority.

Certification Bodies: A Guarantee of Professionalism

Certification Bodies within the EN plus® scheme are independent organisations responsible for the entire certification process. From equipment inspections to testing pellet production and packaging, their work is crucial to ensuring compliance with EN plus® requirements. These bodies are accredited to ISO/IEC 17065 and approved by EN plus® International Management.

Testing Bodies: A Guarantee of Precision

Testing bodies, also accredited to ISO/IEC 17025, carry out standard laboratory tests on pellet samples. The results of these tests are then submitted to the Certification Bodies, forming an important criterion for successful certification.

The Scope of EN plus® Certification

EN plus® has become a global byword for quality in the wood pellet industry. Its certification scheme covers the entire supply chain – from the early stages of production to delivery. All participants receive detailed guidelines, effective monitoring procedures and dedicated training to maintain a high level of quality.

Technical Specifications of EN plus® Pellets

EN plus® pellets undergo rigorous testing covering length, diameter, mechanical durability, particulate content, bulk density, fat and moisture content, net calorific value and the percentage of additives. All of this is intended to ensure optimal, trouble-free operation of appliances fuelled by EN plus® pellets.

Standard and Certificate

It is worth distinguishing between a standard and a certificate. A standard sets out the requirements, specifications or characteristics of a product, process or service, whereas a certificate is evidence of compliance with those requirements. EN plus® is based mainly on ISO 17225, but goes even further in certain specific respects.

In essence, the EN plus® certification scheme makes it easier for consumers to check a product’s compliance with the ISO standard through systematic verification. Transparency, independence and combating fraud are essential to ensuring that EN plus® certification always guarantees high-quality wood pellets.
